by Chang Wen
the tree begins its own healing process
starting with the sound of something
melting and forming
at the same pace
then its branches let through
a peripheral lightning from the forest
behind who seems insignificant
but is actually just distant
Leaves crystalize into a radiating warmth
that only irrational winter people
are madly in love with
like sunshine slipping inside the snow
like depression dissolving into the clouds
like the day the tree froze
and we still hope
