My world dies

by George Colkitto

I scream but no-one hears

notes stick in my throat

the world has changed

greed

streams from me

a shell stripped naked

in the pull of desire

I sold my soul for riches

I can no longer stomach

rotted and dissolving

I disgorge

this inedible truth

live for money

die by money
