I Can Sleep
by Nina Roselle
I can sleep now.
A soft place in the sun has replaced dark captivity. I dream. I tremble, a memory of something around my neck and an ache in my stomach. I cry out.
A soft voice and gentle touch stills my terror. She talks my hand and walks me down the path. She holds my head and kisses me.
I remember that I can sleep now. I am safe.
Nina lives in North Carolina.
She works as a paralegal and writes for her own pleasure, though much to her amazement, she is sometimes published!
She has a special love for dogs and cats and the people who rescue them.
