by JD DeHart

Hello, this is the view

from just slightly off,

the place I was placed,

stage left.  Out of sight,

you know the rest.

But I kept on thinking,

heir to the troubles

of travel, I enjoyed calm

waters.  Thinking if what

is sure to be, rather than

what might have been.

I renew myself in this quiet

isolation, restored by stilled

shade and muffled sound.
