Things like a candle left

alight in a wood' n glass cage

alive while snow swirls to a settlement

and the white in the churchyard,

black of the thaw,

and finding used needles

in the klepto bird's nest

still kneels you down

in your own room, shabby still-life,

makes you pray.

You fumble for the wishes.

Snows fall. Settle.
